Still Life
Modern Day Cornucopia. This image was based upon the traditional style of Xenia still life paintings. These paintings were often found in Roman Villas and showed the abundance of the countryside and the overflowing bounty of the Cornucopia. I have tried to subvert this original context with this image, showing that in a modern day city such as London there is only abundance in the litter that we produce. The lush countryside often evident in Xenia paintings has been replaced with a harsh concrete background to further extend the subversion. This image was created in response to the OUTDOOR criteria set for our second image.
